Somebody had a GI bring-back K98k in Fredericksburg w/o a duffel cut. My byf43 is not peened.īyf43 after cleaning the stock (Note the original field repair on the stock, between the two barrel bands!): Unfortunately, some of the markings have been peened on these. I've got an ar41 and a bnz41 that I haven't touched. I've been looking for a bnz43 w/ single rune, for a while, to go with my byf43. They are rare but out there and command a hefty sum even in Russian Capture form if the seller knows what it is. Most if not all SS k98ks are BNZ coded but not all BNZ coded rifles are for the SS contract. Steyr-Daimler-Puch (BNZ) was the only manufacture who made rifles on contract for the SS. However, it is not incredibly hard to find a BNZ coded rifle with a single rune (single rune: one S, 'lightning bolt'=SS contract). You really have to know what to look for so you don't get screwed. K98ks are one of, if not the most faked rifles on the market. 90 percent blue remains with some fading. This is a Nazi marked byf coded Mauser made in 1944. Legit ones cost tons of money though and they are few and far between. Another great item from Gainesville Pawn Up for sale is a Mauser K98. I would love to get one with LEGIT SS and deaths heads marks. I usually laugh at people I see buy mitchells mausers as a lot of times they seem to be very defensive and unwilling to accept that the rifles are practically worthless.įor what you want I would totally get a good Russian Capture rifle with a good bore. Mitchells Mausers have been ruined collectability wise and I would only pay less than $150 for one as a shooter. Real K98ks have darker stocks for the most part and only have blued bolts. They are a milsurp collectors worst nightmare IMHO. They look reminiscent of a Yugo M48 or M24/47 Mauser. For example, putting fake deaths heads and SS markings on rifles and advertising them as original. They have refinished blondish looking stocks. California sales are OK with proper dealer/state authorization (we are registered with the California DoJ). No sales outside of the United States or to Chicago, New York, or New Jersey-sorry.

They are real K98k Mausers but are Russian Captures that have "pimp shined" (polished) bolts and are completely reblued and have all serial numbers ground down and rematched. TERMS: All firearms are sold in compliance with all federal, state and local laws.

What would you recommend to someone that wanted a shooting Mauser, at always wants a WWII axis piece with nazi markings? :)Ī mitchells mauser is relatively easy to spot. Hope to pick one up at Stoneleigh tomorrow.Ok no Mitchells Mauser.

All I need now is a cleaning rod as it didn't have one. And finally can someone tell me what the markings in the attached photo relate to. The rest of the item has numerous swastika markings and inspectors stamps of 623 for Steyr which are correct.

This has no serial number whatsoever though does have Waffenamt markings of 655 which are for a Mauser Werke inspection, so I am assuming it has a Mauser bolt, but why no serial number markings on it. It has the same serial number on stock, receiver, barrel etc all except the bolt. Now what I find a bit odd and am unsure about are the markings on the bolt, or the lack off. The etchings were very feint and a bit of 1200 grade wet and dry and wirewool removed them without any hassle, reblued the areas and you would never know they had been touched.

When I saw it on viewing I immediately thought RC, still not convinced it wasn't. Now it has or had a couple of etched numbers, same as serial number, on top of bolt and on safety catch.
